Match the lighting system to the display

Display Starting point Confirm before ordering
Shell scheme walls, printed graphics and product shelves Adjustable LED exhibition arm lights aimed at the visible surface Graphic dimensions, mounting height, arm reach and frame profile
Larger graphics or fewer available mounting positions A higher-output arm light, with beam overlap checked in the layout Light-to-display distance, glare, shadows and available power
SEG fabric lightboxes Edge-lit bars around the inner frame, or backlit modules behind the graphic Frame depth, internal dimensions, fabric transmission, module spacing and driver capacity

Front lighting and lightbox lighting solve different problems. Our 10W, 360mm DC24V edge-lit lightbox bar sends light inward from the frame edge through a 9° × 50° lens. It requires a compatible external constant-voltage driver, supplied separately. Test the actual frame and graphic before a production order. Read the edge-lit versus backlit LED module guide.

Choose brightness, CRI and colour temperature

Specification What it tells you How to use it
Lumens (lm) Total visible light output Compare output alongside beam angle and mounting distance. Watts describe power, not brightness. DOE explanation.
Illuminance (lux) Light arriving on a surface; 1 lx = 1 lm/m² Check the graphic or product surface, including corners and lower areas. Lumens alone cannot predict its lux. CIE definition.
CRI Colour fidelity against a reference source CRI 90+ is a useful starting point for colour-sensitive products. For saturated reds, ask about R9 or TM-30 data where available. DOE colour-quality guidance.
Colour temperature (K) Warm or cool appearance of white light Preview the real products and graphics. As practical starting points, 3000K gives a warm appearance, 4500K a neutral appearance and 6000K a cooler appearance. Keep adjacent fixtures consistent.
Beam angle How light is distributed A broad beam spreads light; a narrower beam concentrates it. Check overlap and glare at the actual mounting distance.

Our CCT suggestions are display-planning starting points, not European venue requirements. The selected product may use different fixed ranges. A fixed-CCT variant cannot change colour temperature on site; select a switchable model when that flexibility is needed. For more detail, see how to choose trade show lighting.

Compare two current BOOTH LIGHTS arm lights

Model Listed performance Useful comparison
25W multi-mount LED arm light 3250 lm · CRI 90+ · 120° · AC 85–245V Broad light distribution for compatible display walls, shelves and graphics. Fixed 3000K, 4500K or 6000K variants; EU and UK plug options.
50W silver linkable LED arm light 5500 lm · CRI 90+ · 60° · AC 85–245V Higher output with a narrower beam. Fixed 2700–3200K, 4500–4700K or 6500–7000K variants; EU and UK plug options.

Choose quantity from the illuminated surfaces and layout, rather than stand floor area alone. Wider beams can overlap; higher output does not automatically remove shadows. Compare all LED display arm lights.

Check mounting and power as one system

For shell scheme lighting, measure the frame profile, clamp opening and channel dimensions. Check the rear base, arm reach and mounting load. BOOTH LIGHTS supports several rear-base and accessory combinations, but the parts are not universally interchangeable. Use the arm light mounting and installation guide and ask customer service to confirm the exact light, adapter and frame combination.

The listed 25W model supports up to 10 compatible lights per run; the listed 50W model supports up to 6. Six 50W lights represent a 300W nominal lighting load. These are product-specific ceilings: the lowest-rated cable, plug, connector, circuit or venue limit governs the installation. Include other equipment and driver losses when planning the stand supply with the electrical provider.

Confirm the actual supply voltage, frequency, socket and protective arrangements with the venue. Match the selected fixture or driver rating and plug; a travel adapter does not convert voltage. For DC24V modules, check polarity, connector pinout, driver capacity and voltage drop. Our LED connector guide explains why similar-looking connectors need a compatibility check.

What CE and UKCA mean for exhibition-lighting buyers

CE marking is the manufacturer's declaration of conformity with applicable EU product rules, supported by the required assessment and documentation. It is not a universal approval issued by an EU certification office. Ask for documents identifying the exact product and configuration. Official EU CE guidance.

Destination Buyer check
EU countries Check applicable CE requirements, the EU Declaration of Conformity, model identification and required instructions. Component markings do not replace the conformity assessment of a finished lighting system. EU declaration guidance.
Great Britain: England, Scotland and Wales For equipment under the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations, CE recognition continues and UKCA is also available, subject to the applicable requirements. Check the chosen conformity route and English instructions. GB electrical-equipment guidance.
Northern Ireland Use the separate CE-based rules; UKCA alone is insufficient. UKNI applies only where the relevant assessment route requires it. Northern Ireland guidance.

A DC24V module is below the Low Voltage Directive's 75V DC lower threshold, but this does not exempt the driver or complete system from applicable product rules. EU voltage-scope guidance. Model-specific document availability must be confirmed before ordering. See our lighting certifications and marks guide.

Check the show's electrical manual before installation

Product conformity and acceptance of the stand installation are separate checks. For example, Messe Frankfurt's 2026 technical guidelines, sections 5.3.1–5.3.4, assign stand power outlets to contracted partners and installation to authorised electrical contractors. This is a venue example; use the current manual for your own event.

  • Confirm who orders the power supply, installs the stand wiring and signs off the installation.
  • Provide the lighting load, other equipment, power-point positions and cable routes.
  • Check cable protection, earthing, isolation, required inspections and clearances from combustible materials.
  • Inspect fixtures and cables before each show; protect routes against trips and mechanical damage.

These planning checks follow HSE event electrical-safety guidance. Keep the required model documents and installation records available to the event's electrical provider.

European exhibition lighting: buyer questions

Is a 50W light always better than a 25W light?

No. Compare lumens, beam angle, mounting distance and the surface you need to illuminate. The two models above have different beam distributions, so layout and glare matter as much as output.

Can I choose an EU plug for every European venue?

Confirm the venue socket and the exact supplied plug. Country names and an “EU Plug” option alone do not prove compatibility with every outlet. For UK shows, select the appropriate UK configuration and confirm the venue's supply requirements.

Does every UK show require annual PAT testing?

HSE says UK law does not impose annual PAT testing on every appliance; maintenance, inspection and testing depend on risk. Your organiser can still require particular checks or records. Ask its electrical provider before arriving. Official HSE PAT guidance.

Official guidance checked: 13 October 2026. References explain general principles and one venue example; they do not certify BOOTH LIGHTS products or imply an affiliation with a venue. Confirm the exact model, destination rules and current exhibitor manual for your project.
