EFI Ignite & Printer Demos LED Modules for Double-Sided Backlit Trials

EFI offers printer demonstrations, and its sign-and-display guidance includes double-sided backlit printing and printer proofing lights. This independent selection helps sign shops choose internal LED modules for a finished lightbox without confusing print alignment with light distribution.

Which backlit sample should I take to EFI Ignite?

Bring a labelled front-and-reverse print sample and the intended film or fabric. Ask the print provider to identify any white, clear or blockout layers. Keep the approved sample with its layer record, then compare it in the actual indoor cabinet at the recorded LED layout, CCT and driver settings. Match that assembly before ordering replacement bars; a printer demonstration alone does not specify the finished lightbox.

Check print registration and illumination separately

Keep the front and reverse print orientation with the sample. First assess the printed layers under a stable transmitted-light reference agreed with your print provider. Then test the approved face in the intended cabinet with its actual depth, diffuser, LED positions and power supply. Record print defects and lighting defects separately before changing a component.

Choose the light source for the display

Can brighter LEDs correct a misregistered double-sided backlit print?

No. More light does not move printed layers into alignment. Ask the print provider to verify the front-to-back registration and intended layer construction. Choose LED output and spacing only after the graphic has passed its own alignment check.

How can I compare graphic defects with lightbox hot spots?

Compare a suitable unprinted transmitting reference and the graphic in the same fixture, keeping depth, LED positions and electrical settings unchanged. A repeatable pattern in the unprinted reference suggests a lighting or enclosure issue; a defect appearing only with the print needs a face and printing review. This comparison is a starting point, not a conclusive diagnosis.

Can the printer’s proofing LEDs specify my lightbox components?

No. Printer proofing lights and printing-table lighting do not establish the required bar type, voltage, connector or quantity in your finished cabinet. These products are independent display light sources, not EFI printer parts or UV-curing replacements. Specify the complete lightbox test and exact electrical interfaces before ordering.

Before ordering

LED Modules illuminate a printed face inside a lightbox; they are not complete signs. Confirm connector polarity, driver capacity, thermal conditions and connection limits. Check the selected bar length and product pack quantity. Do not assume outdoor or moisture suitability from a retrofit application.
