Exhibition Arm Lights: How to Choose and Position Them

LED exhibition arm lights for trade show booth – high quality, energy saving, long service life

An exhibition arm light places a directional lamp in front of a graphic, product or display wall. It is useful when the fixture can attach securely to the stand and reach the target without shining into visitors' eyes. Choose by beam coverage, mounting and power compatibility, rather than wattage alone.

Match the beam to the display

Measure the target width and height, mounting position and distance from the lamp. Compare the model's beam angle and light output; check illuminance data at your intended distance if available. Lumens describe light output and watts describe power consumption, as explained in the US Department of Energy lighting guide. Neither number alone tells you how evenly a graphic will be lit. Check color temperature and color-rendering data against actual product or print samples.

Check the arm and mounting bracket

Compare arm reach, head adjustment, clamp opening and frame profile. Confirm permitted loads and the manufacturer's fastening instructions. A clamp that fits the width may still be unsuitable for the frame shape. For fabric displays, mount to the approved structure, not the fabric. Check for sagging and make sure visitors cannot easily strike the projecting arm.

Plan power and linked connections

Confirm whether the exact model uses mains power or a low-voltage supply. Match voltage, polarity, connectors and any controller. Linkable fixtures must stay within the manufacturer's maximum linked quantity and cable ratings as well as the venue circuit limit. A connector that fits is not proof of electrical compatibility. Do not assume every model in a collection shares the same supply or accessories.

Test placement before deciding quantity

  1. Set up a representative graphic or product at the intended mounting height.
  2. Aim the lamps and inspect coverage, shadows and reflections from the aisle and visitor eye level.
  3. Adjust spacing and aiming; add fixtures only where coverage remains insufficient.
  4. Label the tested cables and mounts and keep the layout for later shows.

Use strips or lightbox modules for internal backlighting only with a layout suited to the panel depth, diffuser and optics. They are not direct replacements for front-facing arm lights.

Confirm documents and installation conditions

Check the exact model's intended environment and certification documents against the organizer's requirements before shipping. For US workplace applications, the OSHA NRTL FAQ explains what proper certification involves. Product power does not establish outdoor suitability, and certification of one model does not cover an entire range.
