Our LED Lightbox Modules Are UL Certified — Here's What That Actually Means

A lot of LED suppliers mention UL certification in passing. Fewer of them can show you the certificate number and explain what was actually tested. Here's ours.

The certification

Our LED lightbox modules hold UL certification under file number E468193, issued by UL LLC. You can verify this directly in the UL Online Certifications Directory at ul.com/database.

The certification covers our low voltage LED rigid bar modules, surface mounted or cabinet mounted, suitable for Dry and Damp locations.

Standards tested against:

  • UL 2108 — Standard for Low Voltage Lighting Systems
  • UL 8750 — Standard for Light Emitting Diode (LED) Equipment for Use in Lighting Products
  • CSA C22.2 No. 250.0-08 & No. 9.0 — Canadian Standards Association standards for luminaires

The CSA standards mean these modules are also certified for use in Canada, not just the US.

Why UL certification matters for trade show and exhibition use

Most major convention centers and exhibition venues in North America require that electrical equipment used on the show floor carries a recognized safety certification. UL is the most widely accepted. Without it, you can run into problems at venue check-in — some venues will ask you to remove uncertified lighting before the show opens.

This isn't a theoretical risk. Exhibitors who source cheap uncertified modules sometimes find out at the worst possible moment that their lighting doesn't pass venue inspection.

UL certification means the product has been independently tested against established safety standards — not just self-declared compliant. There's a difference.

What "Dry and Damp locations" means

UL rates lighting for three location types: Dry, Damp, and Wet. Our modules are rated for Dry and Damp locations, which covers:

  • Indoor exhibition halls and convention centers
  • Semi-outdoor covered exhibition spaces
  • Retail environments
  • Showrooms

For fully outdoor or exposed installations, you'd need a Wet-rated product. For trade show and exhibition use, Dry/Damp is the right rating.

Which products are covered

The UL certification covers our LED lightbox module range. Two products currently available in our store that fall under this certification:

How to verify the certification yourself

Go to ul.com/database and search for file number E468193. You'll find the full listing, including the product categories and models covered under the certification. This is the same database that venue safety inspectors use.

If you need a copy of the certificate for procurement, compliance, or venue documentation purposes, contact us and we'll send it over.

Common questions

Is UL the same as ETL?

Both are NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory) certifications accepted by US authorities. UL is issued by UL LLC; ETL is issued by Intertek. For most trade show venues and building inspectors, both are equally acceptable. Our arm lights carry ETL certification; our lightbox modules carry UL certification.

Does UL certification cover Canada?

Yes. This certification also covers CSA C22.2 standards, which means the products are certified for use in Canada as well as the US.

Do I need to show certification at trade show venues?

It depends on the venue. Major convention centers like McCormick Place, Las Vegas Convention Center, and most large exhibition halls require NRTL-certified electrical equipment. Smaller venues may not check. If you're exhibiting at a major show, it's worth confirming the venue's requirements in advance.

Can I get a copy of the certificate?

Yes — contact us and we'll send the full certificate. You can also verify the certification independently at ul.com/database using file number E468193.
