For exhibition contractors, a useful portable light must fit the display, travel safely and be straightforward to service between shows. Low fixture weight helps handling, but the decision should include the adapters, cables, mounting hardware and protective case.
Measure the kit that actually travels
Weigh the complete kit and measure its packed dimensions. A small lamp with bulky adapters or a poorly arranged case may offer little transport advantage. Compare the carrier’s charging method, case count and handling requirements for your route before estimating freight savings.
Keep mounts, screws and adapters in labelled compartments. Protect the lamp head from impact and prevent metal brackets from rubbing against the lens. A packing list makes missing parts easier to catch before dispatch.
Check installation before buying a fleet
- Measure the frame profile, mounting clearance and available reach. Confirm the mount’s permitted load and tightening method.
- Try one complete fixture on the actual display. Check graphic coverage, glare and cable routing from the visitor’s viewpoint.
- Time assembly and removal with the crew who will use it. Record the steps and tools rather than assuming every compact design installs faster.
- Check whether connectors, adapters and mounting parts can be replaced individually.
A compact fixture example
The 20W Compact LED Display Light is specified at 1,700 lm, with a 120° beam and dimensions of 460 × 146 × 40 mm. It includes mounting hardware and a matched adapter with a B-shape connector. The published light input is DC 18–26V at 800mA constant current: use the specified adapter rather than choosing a supply by voltage alone.
Choose the regional mains plug and fixed colour-temperature version when ordering: 3000–3500K, 4500–4700K or 6500–6700K. These are ordering options, not an on-fixture colour switch. The dimensions describe the fixture, not a ready-to-ship case; ask for the complete kit’s weight and packed size.
Plan for the next event
Label each light and its matched adapter. Keep tested spares, inspect cables and mounts after dismantling, and quarantine damaged parts. Compare purchase price, measured installation time, replacement parts and actual freight charges across events. A lighter fixture is worthwhile when that whole workflow works better.
