How to Choose LED Trade Show Booth Lights

How to Choose the Best LED Trade Show Booth Lights

Choose LED trade show booth lights by the surfaces you need to illuminate, the available mounting positions and the actual fixture specifications. Wattage or booth floor area alone cannot tell you how many lights will work.

Start with the display, not the wattage

Record graphic width and height, product zones, viewing sides, mounting height and the distance from the light to its target. A printed back wall, a counter and an internally lit SEG lightbox need different lighting arrangements.

Lighting task Fixture approach Check before choosing
Illuminate the front of a graphic wall Frame-mounted arm light with suitable optics Arm reach, beam overlap and brightness from top to bottom
Highlight a product or feature Directional spotlight or suitable adjustable head Beam position, reflections and glare from visitor viewpoints
Illuminate an SEG graphic from inside Internal lightbox LED layout Frame depth, diffusion and module spacing; an external arm light is not a substitute

“Arm light” describes a mounting format, not a guaranteed beam shape. Read the beam specification for the exact head; adjusting its direction does not necessarily change its beam angle.

Compare lumens and beam coverage together

Lumens describe total light output. Illuminance, measured in lux at the graphic or product, depends on distribution, distance and angle. The same lumen output can produce different results on a tall wall and a nearby counter.

These two current BOOTH LIGHTS models illustrate why wattage is only part of the choice:

Model Power Listed output Listed beam Color-temperature choice
25W fixed-CCT arm light 25W 3250lm 120° Select 3000K, 4500K or 6500K when ordering
50W Tri-CCT arm light 50W 5500lm 60° Built-in switch: 3000K, 4500K or 6500K

Both list CRI 90+. The 50W model has more total output and a narrower listed beam; that does not establish the area covered or the brightness of every point. Compare a photometric layout or test one fixture at the planned distance.

Choose color temperature and color rendering separately

Fixed-CCT lights use the option ordered. Tri-CCT provides three preset settings; it is not continuously adjustable white. Select by the actual printed whites, product colors and materials under the hall’s ambient lighting, rather than a rule for a particular industry.

CRI compares color rendition with a reference source. It does not guarantee every product color or camera result. Test the real materials, especially when replacing lights in an existing group. See the NIST explanation.

Check mounting and power before purchase

  • Measure the frame profile and the light-side connection. An included clamp is not a guarantee of frame compatibility.
  • Check weight, arm reach, permitted load and access for adjustment. Follow the booth-light mounting guide.
  • Choose the destination plug and confirm cable lengths, venue supply and circuit capacity.
  • Use the exact model’s linked-run limit and the ratings of the complete electrical system. Similar wattages do not imply the same connection limit.
  • Check installation instructions, material clearances and the documents required for the exact model at the venue. LED construction does not make every housing suitable for contact with fabric.

Decide quantity with a sample layout

  1. Mark each graphic panel and product zone that needs light.
  2. Place one fixture at the intended height and distance.
  3. Check the top, middle and bottom of the graphic, plus overlap between adjacent lights. Look for shadows, reflections and glare.
  4. Adjust position and spacing, then repeat the tested arrangement for comparable areas.

A recommendation such as “four lights for every 10×10ft booth” omits wall height, optics and ambient light. If a sample test is not possible, ask for a layout based on the dimensions and available photometric information.

What to include in an order enquiry

Send the booth plan, graphic dimensions, profile cross-section, product zones, venue, plug requirement and preferred light color. Compare the complete cost with clamps, adapters, cables and transport protection included.
