An independent LED selection guide for American Sign Association showroom research. Test your own rigid printed face and enclosure before ordering internal lightbox components.
Compare the face and mounting details together
Record the face material and thickness, print layers, illuminated opening, retaining lip and LED-to-face distance. Keep these conditions fixed while comparing candidate bars. An attractive reference sign is a starting point for your own test, not a component specification.
Choose the light source for the display
- DC24V linkable edge-lit bars: 212mm/9W, 319mm/14W or 480mm/20W for modular lightbox builds.
- 12W/18W DC24V MODULAP lightbox module: 470mm edge-lighting format for compatible fabric frames; verify the connector and fit.
- 20W DC24V rigid lightbox bar: 470mm, 2200lm ±10%, for tested indoor SEG and illuminated-sign layouts.
- 7W DC24V compact lightbox bar: 200mm, 770lm, 200×23×16mm body for short frame sections. Check the Molex 5557 / Mini-Fit Jr. connector family, mating pinout and fit before replacement.
Will the same LED bars look identical behind acrylic and polycarbonate?
Do not assume so. Material tint, diffusion and printed layers can change the appearance of the finished face. Compare actual samples at the same viewing distance and ambient lighting. A matching white-light specification alone does not establish matching sign colour or uniformity.
Can brighter LED bars remove a dark strip beside the retaining edge?
First identify whether the edge, fixing or an internal support is blocking the light. Photograph the unlit assembly and the illuminated face. Compare the bar’s beam direction and available mounting space. More output does not remove a physical obstruction; review the construction and test any revised layout.
How do I carry a showroom comparison into a component order?
Keep a face sample and a dimensioned cabinet section with your comparison notes. Mark the retained border and illuminated area separately. Request a trial with the selected bar links and required pack quantity. Confirm actual internal clearances, supply and connectors before approving production; do not copy a reference sign’s bar count.
Before ordering
LED Modules illuminate a printed face inside a lightbox; they are not complete signs. Confirm connector polarity, driver capacity, thermal conditions and connection limits. Check the selected bar length and product pack quantity. Do not assume outdoor or moisture suitability from a retrofit application.
Send cabinet photos, internal dimensions, frame drawings, the existing driver specification and proposed product links through our contact page to discuss a trial selection.
