A retractable banner can use a light mounted above the graphic when its stand has a suitable attachment point and can support the fixture. Start with fit and stability, then aim the beam. A lamp that fits the rail is not automatically suitable for the complete stand.
1. Check the stand before attaching a light
Fully assemble the banner according to its instructions. Identify the structural mounting point, measure its shape and thickness, and check clearance for the clamp screw. Confirm the permitted added load and arm leverage with the stand manufacturer.
Do not grip only the printed material or assume every roll-up top rail can carry a lamp. Check the base and support pole after fitting; route the cable so it does not pull the stand off balance.
2. Aim and inspect the entire height
Position the light above the graphic and direct it onto the print. Check the top, middle, bottom and both edges from the intended viewing position. If the top is bright and the lower section dim, adjust aim and offset before adding output.
Beam angle describes spread, not a guaranteed banner width. The actual footprint depends on distance and the angle to the surface. One fixture may work for a particular banner; a wider display may need another tested arrangement.
3. Check the printed colors
Test the actual banner under the chosen white light and the surrounding venue lighting. Inspect glossy areas for reflected lamp images. Choose the CCT by that sample, not by an assumed rule that technology or medical displays require very cool light.
A banner-specific example
The 11W retractable banner light is specified at 1100lm, 60°, CRI 90+, DC12V and 480 × 144 × 48mm, with a C-clamp mount. Verify the clamp opening and stand dimensions before ordering.
Ordering options include 4200–4700K, 6500–6700K and 7500–8500K plus destination plugs. These are product options; do not assume the lamp switches between every listed range. Use the matching DC12V adapter and confirm the selected pack contents.
4. Prepare for repeated setup
- Photograph the tested position and label the lamp and adapter.
- Keep cables away from walkways, pole joints and the retracting mechanism.
- Disconnect power and remove the fixture before retracting or packing the banner, following both products' instructions.
- Protect the head and clamp in transport and check for damage before reuse.
