Lighting Seafood and Fishery Trade Show Booths

Separate the lighting of seafood products, refrigerated displays and booth graphics. Test real samples for color and glare, and select equipment for the actual moisture and temperature conditions. Lighting can change appearance; it cannot establish product freshness or food safety.

Plan each display zone

Zone Lighting check Installation check
Fish or shellfish display Compare flesh, skin and labels without using a color cast to disguise appearance Expected splash, condensation, temperature and equipment rating
Refrigerated case Inspect reflections in the glass from visitor positions Case manufacturer’s lighting provision and approved external mounting
Packaged or smoked products Check label text, packaging color and gloss Clearance, stable mounts and cable route
Backwall and sample table Even graphic coverage and shadows from people Separate fixing points and electrical plan

Choose CCT by comparison, not a species rule

Neutral white around 4000–4500K is a reasonable test starting point, then compare other available settings with the final samples and hall lights on. It is not a universal optimum for salmon, white fish or shellfish. Check white labels, red or pink areas and reflective skin. CRI 90+ can help shortlist fixtures, but CCT and CRI do not guarantee an accurate appearance for every sample.

Confirm environmental suitability

Do not assume an exhibition arm light is suitable above open ice or inside a refrigerated case. Check the exact model’s ingress-protection rating, condensation limitations, operating temperature and installation instructions. A generic distance such as 60cm does not establish suitability. If the page lacks the required data, obtain written confirmation or choose equipment specified for the environment.

Confirm outlets, connectors and cable routes with the show’s electrical provider. For Nor-Fishing, Seafood Expo Global or Seafood Expo North America, use the current exhibitor manual and model-specific documents; a regional plug alone does not prove acceptance.

Trial the complete layout

  1. Mark product, graphic and demonstration zones, mounting locations and power connections.
  2. Test one compatible fixture with the final display; use the case’s own lighting where specified.
  3. Move around the display at visitor height. Change aiming to reduce glass, ice and packaging reflections.
  4. Check staff shadows at sample tables and coverage at graphic edges.
  5. Record the model, CCT and position; inspect mounts and cables before each show day.
