How Many Lumens Does a Large Display Panel Need?

43.2W high-output display panel lighting

A dark trade show graphic may need more light, better aiming or better coverage. Wattage alone does not show how brightly the panel will be illuminated. A compact 10–16W light may suit a small panel, but judge it by its published light output and actual installation.

What determines the required output?

Start with panel dimensions, the lamp-to-graphic distance, beam distribution, ambient hall lighting, graphic colors and the required visual effect. Lumens describe total fixture output; lux measures the light reaching the panel. Average illuminance is the useful incident lumens divided by area, so source lumens cannot simply be divided by panel area without accounting for light that misses it.

Higher output or more fixtures?

There is no universal 4,000lm requirement or guarantee. Higher output can help when mounting points are limited. Several lower-output fixtures may produce more even coverage on a wide wall. Compare the center, bottom edge and corners on the actual graphic before choosing the quantity.

Mounting and aiming

Position compatible arm lights near the upper edge and aim the heads across the graphic. The arm should put the light in a useful position without obstructing the display or exceeding the support's limits. Adjust position and overlap to reduce glare and dark bands.

A current high-output option

Our current 43W high-lumen LED panel display arm light publishes 4300lm, a 120° beam and a metal arm. It is a standalone fixture with its own power connection, not a daisy-chain model. Choose a fixed CCT range and the appropriate plug. Large exhibition panels, backdrops, retail graphics and product walls are potential applications, but 4300lm alone does not establish the number of lights needed.

A practical selection check

More small lights or fewer high-output lights? Choose from the measured coverage, available mounting points and electrical plan. Test in comparable ambient light and follow the fixture and venue instructions.
