Exhibition booth light placement should follow the graphics, products and visitor sightlines, not a fixed fixture count for each floor size. The same booth dimensions can need different layouts because wall width, mounting height, beam angle and display depth change the coverage.
Start with visual zones
Mark the back wall, logos, product shelves, counters and demonstration areas that need attention. Give each separated target its own planned coverage instead of trying to light the entire booth from one position.
Position lights in front of the target
Mount arm lights where the beam can reach the display without being blocked by headers, shelves, people or frame members. Aim at the graphic or product rather than the floor or ceiling. Check the result from the main aisle and nearby side aisles.
Plan wall coverage by beam overlap
Place fixtures so adjacent beams overlap slightly across the usable wall. The correct spacing depends on the exact beam angle and fixture-to-wall distance. Test for bright centers, dark edges and reflections before repeating the spacing.
Treat corners and returns as separate planes
A beam aimed at a back wall will not automatically cover a side return. Add or redirect coverage for each wall plane while keeping light out of visitors’ eyes. Corner shadows are usually solved by direction and overlap, not wattage alone.
Position lights on island and open booths by focal area
Island booths can have several viewing directions. Plan fixtures around logos, products and conversation areas instead of assigning a standard number to the total floor area. Check that one fixture does not create glare for visitors approaching from another side.
Light shelves and dimensional products from useful angles
Products that project from a wall can cast shadows on items below. Use offset or cross-lighting when needed and keep the source reflection away from the main viewing direction. Small products may benefit from more controlled beams rather than simply higher output.
Choose output after the position is known
Compare verified lumens, beam angle, mounting distance, CRI and color temperature for the exact model. Lower- and higher-power arm lights can serve the same layout with different spacing or aiming. Wattage does not define the booth type.
Confirm mounting and power
Measure the panel, tube, extrusion or track and select compatible clamps, plates or sliders. Verify cable routes, connector type, total load, link limits and current event documentation for the exact fixtures.
Test before shipping and adjust on site
Build a representative section, photograph it from visitor and camera positions and correct shadows, hot spots and glare. Hall lighting may require small aiming changes after installation, so keep adjustment points accessible.
