Why buy directly from the manufacturer at all?
The most obvious reason is the price. If you cut out the middleman, you pay less — sometimes significantly less. But that's not the only advantage.
When you buy directly from the manufacturer, you also get direct access to technical information: exact lumen specifications, certification documents, information on linkability, spare parts. Retailers often cannot provide this because they do not have direct contact with the factory themselves.
And for larger orders — for example, for stand builders who supply several customers — prices and conditions can be negotiated directly.
What should a good exhibition lighting manufacturer offer?
CE Certification
For the European market, CE is mandatory. Without CE marking, the product may not be sold in the EU. Important: Not every manufacturer who prints "CE" on the packaging has actually had the product certified. Ask for the declaration of conformity — a reputable manufacturer can provide it.
Realistic technical specifications
Lumen specifications are often exaggerated in the industry. A 21W spotlight with allegedly 4000lm should make you skeptical — this is physically hardly possible. Reliable manufacturers provide realistic values and can present measurement reports.
Linkability
For exhibition stands, the ability to connect several luminaires in series is an important criterion. Fewer cables, faster setup. Ask how many units per chain are possible and whether the connection cables are included in the scope of delivery.
Delivery time and shipping to Europe
Many Chinese manufacturers ship via DHL or FedEx Express — delivery times of 5 to 10 working days are realistic. It is important that the shipment is accompanied by a correct commercial invoice so that there are no problems with customs.
What to look out for during the first contact
A good manufacturer responds quickly, answers technical questions specifically and sends certificates and data sheets on request. If the answers remain vague or you are only referred to a product page, that is not a good sign.
Feel free to ask for a sample before placing a larger order. Reputable manufacturers offer this — sometimes for a fee, which is offset against a later order.
Minimum order quantities
