LED Floodlights for Trade Show Booths — Wide-Angle Booth Flood Lighting
LED Floodlights for Trade Show Booths
LED floodlights for trade show booths produce a wide beam angle — typically 90° to 120° — that washes a large surface area with even, diffused light. This is fundamentally different from a spotlight, which concentrates light into a narrow beam. Floodlights are the right choice when your goal is uniform illumination across a backdrop, fabric graphic, or large panel rather than focused highlighting of a specific product.
Floodlight vs. Spotlight: Choosing the Right Tool
Use a floodlight when: you have a large fabric backdrop or tension fabric display, your graphic panel is the primary visual element, you want even ambient light across the entire booth, or you are lighting a presentation or demo area where people move around.
Use a spotlight when: you have specific products to highlight, you want to create contrast and visual hierarchy, your booth has a dark background with featured items, or you are directing visitor attention to a single focal point.
Many professional exhibitors use both: floodlights for the backdrop and spotlights for hero products.
Beam Angle and Coverage
A 90° floodlight mounted 1.5 m from a backdrop covers approximately 3 m of width. A 120° floodlight at the same distance covers approximately 5 m. For a standard 10x10 booth with a 3 m wide backdrop, one 90° floodlight centered on the panel provides full coverage. For a 10x20 booth, two floodlights spaced evenly eliminate the center shadow that a single unit would create.
Heat and Fabric Safety
Traditional halogen floodlights generate significant heat and are prohibited near fabric displays at most venues. BOOTH LIGHTS LED floodlights operate at under 45°C at the housing surface, making them safe for use within 30 cm of fabric graphics, foam boards, and paper signage.

Frequently Asked Questions
What beam angle should I choose for my trade show backdrop?
For a 10x10 booth with a 3 m backdrop, a 90° beam mounted 1.5 m away provides full coverage. For wider backdrops or greater mounting distances, choose 120° or use two 90° units.
Are LED floodlights allowed at trade show venues?
Yes. Low-voltage LED floodlights are permitted at all major US and European trade show venues. Halogen floodlights are banned at many venues due to heat and fire risk — LED floodlights eliminate this concern.
Can I use a floodlight and a spotlight together in the same booth?
Yes, and this is the recommended approach for most exhibitors. Use floodlights to establish even ambient light across your backdrop, then add spotlights to create focal points on key products or messaging.
Do trade show floodlights work with the same clamp as arm lights?
Yes. BOOTH LIGHTS floodlights use the same universal 8–40 mm clamp system as our arm lights, so they are interchangeable on the same frame without additional hardware.
